Transitioning to ECO:

The Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians

Our Session has agreed that when we are dismissed from the PC(USA)

we will affiliate with the the Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians (ECO).

1.  We believe ECO provides a clear and coherent theological center.

· ECO’s mission is to build flourishing churches that make disciples of Jesus Christ.

· ECO asks its leaders to agree to a written statement of essential beliefs which provides a clearly defined theology core.

· ECO upholds that Jesus Christ is Lord of all and the only way of salvation.

2.  We believe that ECO cultivates relationships and trust.

· Pastors and congregations are to be accountable to each other and  submit to a “peer review.”

· Presbyteries will have no more than 20 congregations, small enough so that leaders can develop lasting relationships.

3.  We believe that ECO sees the congregation as the primary center of mission.

· ECO exists to serve the local church and nurture leaders so that the Kingdom of God expands.

· ECO’s commitment is to strengthen the local churches, not to have the local churches exist for ECO.

4.  ECO ensures that the congregation’s property title belongs to the local church.

5.   ECO is also our choice as they:

· welcome women and men into the ministry

· honor our whole Presbyterian book of Confessions

· uphold marriage as a covenant between a man and a woman, honoring faithfulness in marriage and chastity in singleness

· have low per capita cost with no costly administrative denominational overhead

· provide strong leadership resources to help each congregation

Currently ECO has 253 congregations formed from churches that have left the PC(USA) and that number continues to grow.
