The Apostle Paul says in 1 Timothy 4:16, Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.”
What are Life Groups?
Life Groups are gatherings where people are invited to share the journey of life as Christians together. They consist of 8 to14 people and meet in a group member’s home about once every two weeks. Generally, the meetings will last for about one and a half hours and consist of fellowship (yes, snacks are included), topic of discussion and a time of sharing joys and praying for concerns. There are five established and three new Life Groups meeting in the Mukilteo vicinity this fall.
What’s their purpose?
Their purpose is two-fold: Grow Community and Form Faith for those connected to Mukilteo Presbyterian Church. Life Groups intentionally deepen the relational ties between people in the church and encourage them in their faith and devotion to God and God’s people.
How do Life Groups do that?
Community is grown and faith is formed in five different facets of a Life Group. These facets are fellowship, care, spiritual formation, service and mission. In a Life Group fellowship is experienced as people share their common ground in Jesus Christ. They care for one another personally. Each person is encouraged to be attentive to his or her spiritual lives. Over time, various ways to be involved in the service and mission of the church are explored.
When do Life Groups start?
Life Groups are active all year round. Most Life Groups parallel the school calendar, so during class is in session the groups meet twice a month. When the Mukilteo School District is on break the group may meet less frequently. Since the Life Group discussion tracks with Pastor Mark's sermons new participants are welcome most any time.
